The exhibition “Point of Entry” was conceived as a way to understand the current situation in Belarus through objects that bear direct witness to it.
Every week, Belarusians come to the Free Belarus Museum and entrust us with their artefacts – personal belongings and documents that tell stories of lived experience, repression and resistance. This is why “Point of Entry” does not remain unchanged: the exhibition is regularly updated and will continue to evolve, maintaining its focus on the present and reflecting what is happening in Belarus today.
Among the new objects recently added to the exhibition are:
• Prison medical certificates belonging to political prisoner Ruslan Volkau. According to Ruslan’s testimony, on the day a certificate was issued, he was placed in a punishment cell for the duration covered by the document.
• A mug and a wooden spoon belonging to political prisoner Ales Bialiatski, Nobel Peace Prize laureate.
• A bar of soap in the shape of a tractor – a gift to the Museum from writer Sviatlana Kurs.
“Point of Entry” continues to change alongside reality. And every new artefact helps preserve its testimony.
