We invite you to the closing event of the exhibition “Bagpipes: Instrument, History, Symbol”.
At 6:00 PM, there will be a final curator-led tour by Eugen Baryshnikau, along with the announcement of the results of the voting organized as part of the exhibition.
At 7:30 PM, join us for an expert discussion on the current challenges and future perspectives of the Belarusian bagpipe tradition in Belarus and abroad. Topics will include:
- different understandings of what the Belarusian bagpipe tradition means today and the relationship between the “ethnographic” and “medieval” approaches
- formats and best practices for promoting the bagpipe movement: folk dance parties, clubs, and schools
- controversies and prospects of including Belarusian bagpipes in intangible cultural heritage lists (national and UNESCO Representative List)
- different approaches to bagpipe education

- Dzianis Shmatko - bagpiper, founder of the bagpipe school in Warsaw
