The play, created to mark the 100th anniversary of the People’s Writer Vasil Bykau, offers a new perspective on his legacy — placing him in a “diabolical” setting, surrounded by moral choices and spiritual turmoil.
Instead of the traditional heroic image, audiences will see Bykau as a man filled with fear, pain, and an unrelenting search for truth.
A special role in the production is given to live music — original compositions by Sergei Pukst, who performs them himself. The soundtrack also features songs based on poems by Henadz Buraukin, Uladzimir Nyaklyayeu, Pyotr Prykhodka, and Ales Pysin.
The performance weaves together both well-known and lesser-known works by Bykau, including “Dapyaklo” (To the Limit), “The Dull Pen,” “One Night,” “The Dead Feel No Pain,” “The Tailed One,” and “The Rhinos Are Coming.”
