In Warsaw, at the Museum of Free Belarus, the performance-theater piece “Tseslya” will be presented.

“It is a play about the fate of many Belarusian families, divided both in time and space,” says the author of the concept and text, Volha Karalyonak.

– The main character is a carpenter, a woodworker living in a small town in Belarus. His daughter has moved to Warsaw. He is laid off from his job just before retirement. It seems like nothing ties him to his native Sharkawshchyna, and his daughter tells him: “Come live with me, your grandson is growing up, you haven’t seen him, you will help raise him.”

Now he stands at a crossroads, unsure what to choose. On one hand, everything suggests he should move to his daughter and continue life there, where it might be better. On the other hand, something keeps him in Belarus. And the questions arise: what is it that truly holds him back? The grave of his wife? The cultural center where he worked all his life? Fear of the new, unknown life in unfamiliar Warsaw?

The performance will take place on Friday, August 22, starting at 19:00.
