The second day of the international event “The Night of the (Not) Shot Poets” took place at the Museum of the X Pavilion of the Warsaw Citadel (Muzeum X Pawilonu Cytadeli Warszawskiej).
The evening was dedicated to showing solidarity with Belarusian political prisoners, who remain behind bars today because of their civic convictions and their commitment to freedom.
During Andrus Praga's performance “Tales from the Castle”, a 19th-century prison cell became a living part of the stage setting. In the performance, the artist drew on his own experience of imprisonment in the Valadarski detention centre in Minsk. A space that preserves the memory of imprisonment and repression took on particular significance in the context of his personal story and the ongoing experiences of Belarusian political prisoners.
Thank you to everyone who joined us, came to honour the victims of repression and expressed solidarity with those who continue to fight for freedom while behind bars.
