On September 29, 2025, the Museum of Free Belarus hosted the first presentation and practical session of the Belarusian Museum Laboratory, “Creating Belarusian Digital Collections: Experience of Initiatives and Fundraising Opportunities.”
The aim of the event was to discuss modern approaches to building and developing Belarusian digital collections, identify key challenges, and explore possible solutions.
The program featured presentations from Belarusian museum and cultural initiatives in Warsaw, London, and Vilnius, as well as from the digital library KAMUNIKAT. Participants shared practical experience, highlighted the main difficulties encountered in digitization, and presented the most successful solutions.

A separate block was devoted to a practical workshop by Polish expert Dr. Hanna Malczuk-Wakulińska, head of the portal Kasa na Kulture. During the session, she presented tools and opportunities for securing funding for projects in the field of cultural heritage digitization.
The session was held in a hybrid format, allowing participation both in person and online from different countries.
This event marked the first in a series of meetings of the Belarusian Museum Laboratory dedicated to the creation and development of digital collections. The upcoming sessions will focus on exploring the use of Polish and European platforms, as well as practical technical and financial solutions in this field.
