“Nothing Particularly New” is a phrase often found in the letters of Belarusian political prisoners. Behind these words lies an attempt not to worry loved ones, to hide the pain and monotony of imprisonment. Yet it is precisely this outward everydayness that becomes evidence of the systemic injustice experienced by thousands of Belarusians.

The exhibition “Nothing Particularly New” presents original personal belongings of political prisoners donated to the museum’s collection: everyday objects that have become silent witnesses to life behind bars. They speak of the lives of people imprisoned for truth, dignity, and the pursuit of freedom. Alongside them are lines from letters, poems, and audio recordings made by the prisoners themselves. The exhibition preserves their words and belongings both as documents of an era and as an emotional testament to resistance.

But this exhibition does more than document. It tells a story. A story about people who longed to embrace their loved ones and say, “I’m fine, I’m home,” but who, for now, are forced to write: “Nothing particularly new.”

The exhibition is created for them — Belarusian political prisoners. And for each of us — who wants to know and remember, to bear witness and show support, to understand, and to believe in the power of solidarity.

Join us on May 21 for the opening of the exhibition — on the International Day of Solidarity with Belarusian Political Prisoners. Come see the collection, hear the voices of the prisoners, and feel part of a strong, collective movement for their freedom.
