In November 2025, the Free Belarus Museum launched the project “The Free Belarus Museum: Strengthening Capacity for Belarusian Culture,” aimed at reinforcing the museum’s institutional resilience and supporting its development as a modern cultural institution in Warsaw.

The project focuses on organizing and systematizing key areas of the museum’s work — including collection management, audience engagement, communication, partnerships, and financial sustainability. As part of the project, the museum plans to update its mission and develop and publish a Concept and Development Strategy, which will be submitted for independent external expert evaluation.

One of the project’s planned outcomes is an increase in the museum’s audience by at least 10%. Special attention will be given to online audiences, including Belarusians residing within Belarus. Visitor surveys are also planned to assess the quality of the museum’s communication and to support its further improvement.

The project also includes activities aimed at researching audience needs, developing a communication strategy, and expanding partnership networks. Planned actions include public consultations on the museum’s core documents, the implementation of a crowdfunding campaign, and active publishing efforts — on the museum’s website, social media platforms, and in partner media.

The Free Belarus Museum continues to engage with a broad audience — Belarusians inside the country and abroad, adolescents and young people, as well as vulnerable groups, including Belarusian activists who have experienced repression or forced migration. The museum’s activities are focused on preserving historical memory, supporting the right to dignity, ensuring access to cultural heritage, and disseminating knowledge.

The results of the project are intended to have a long-term impact. The documents developed and practices established during the project’s implementation will form the foundation for the museum’s continued growth, strengthened financial sustainability, and enhanced role as an important actor in Belarusian culture and cultural diplomacy.
