The Free Belarus Museum hosted the official award ceremony of the United Transitional Cabinet.
The Medal of the Unbroken was awarded to Belarusian lawyer, attorney, politician, and former political prisoner Maksim Znak for his personal courage, resilience, and dedication to advancing the ideals of democracy and human rights.
The Cross of Good Neighbourhood was presented to Swedish politician Björn Olof Söder, Member of the Riksdag, member of the Committee on Defence, the Military Delegation, the Swedish delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, and head of the Swedish delegation to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly.
Following the ceremony, we guided Mr. Söder through the exhibition "Depatriation", after which we introduced the exhibition to Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya.
Among the exhibits that made the strongest impression were the burned ballot papers and the "16" badge, one of the symbols of the Jeans Revolution. During the tour, Mr. Söder asked many questions about the history of Lukashenka's regime, its consolidation, and how Belarusians continue to live under dictatorship today. At the end of his visit, he left a message of appreciation in the Museum's guest book.
We also invite you to visit the "Depatriation" exhibition, which is open at the Free Belarus Museum until 26 June. You can also book a private guided tour with a historian to learn more about the history of Belarusian resistance.
The exhibition is organized with the support of Belarus Beehive and the European Union.
