On October 27, the Museum of Free Belarus in Warsaw will host a cultural event dedicated to the premiere of the poem “Christmas” and the presentation of the new book “Without a Homeland” by Belarusian poet, prose writer, and public figure Uladzimir Nyaklyayeu.

Uladzimir Nyaklyayeu is a renowned Belarusian author whose works are filled with love for his homeland and deep concern for its future. In “Without a Homeland,” he explores themes of emigration, the sense of losing one’s country, and the anxiety and hope that accompany this experience. These are deeply personal reflections, yet ones that resonate with many Belarusians — conveyed through both poetry and lyrical prose.

The highlight of the evening will be the premiere reading of the poem “Christmas”, performed by Nyaklyayeu himself. The poem intertwines contemporary realities with traditional Belarusian motifs, creating a literary work rich in meaning and emotion.

Musical accompaniment for the evening will be provided by Dzmitry Duhanau, a multi-instrumentalist who will perform on the handpan and various wind instruments. His live music will complement the poetry, adding a meditative and immersive atmosphere.

In addition, the event will feature a video art projection by artist Alaksandra Kanafalskaya, showcasing the process of creating illustrations for “Without a Homeland” using sand art techniques. The audience will be able to watch poetic imagery take shape before their eyes, blending literature and visual art.

During the presentation, guests will have the opportunity to purchase the new book “Without a Homeland,” Nyaklyayeu’s previous collection “Alone,” as well as postcards with his poems and stickers featuring Kanafalskaya’s artwork. Both artists will be available for signing sessions.
