An extraordinary musical evening took place at the Museum of Free Belarus featuring dudka players from the Dudy By School in Warsaw.
“The event was held as part of Kateryna Vadanosava’s ‘Stroy’ exhibition and was inspired by her ideas. The music spanned a wide range of styles—from medieval melodies to contemporary folk and rock rhythms. The sounds of the dudka blended organically with various musical styles, creating a unique and engaging experience for all attendees,” the Museum of Free Belarus described the event.

The Dudy By School has launched a YouTube channel of the same name, featuring instructional videos for those who want to learn to play the Belarusian dudka or improve their skills.
The channel will offer detailed lessons on playing the Belarusian dudka—from the first notes to complex melodies; explain the history and role of the dudka in rituals, folklore, and contemporary music; feature interviews with masters, musicians, and researchers who preserve and revive the tradition; share masterclasses, tips for instrument care, and even secrets of making the dudka.
Some videos are already available: “Playing Technique and Practice,” “Dudka Maintenance,” “Music Theory and Rhythm,” and “Vocal Techniques.”
Classes at the Dudy By School take place on weekends at the Museum of Free Belarus.
