In the first half of 2026, the Free Belarus Museum conducted an audience survey to better understand your interests, needs and expectations of the Museum. We would now like to share the findings and explain how we are taking your feedback into account in our work.
A total of 50 people took part in the survey: 37 respondents completed the questionnaire online, while 13 visitors filled it in at the Museum. We asked about the event formats they found most interesting, their experience of visiting the Museum, our communication and the areas they felt could be improved.
One of the key findings was that a strong and loyal community has already formed around the Museum. We want not only to share stories and artefacts with you, but also to listen to your views, take them into account and develop the Museum together with you.
You told us that you would like to see exhibitions and projects addressing repression, contemporary Belarusian history, migration and national identity. We strive to explore these topics, preserve testimonies of contemporary history and create a space for reflection and discussion.
One of the needs you highlighted was the creation of a permanent exhibition. We are already working towards this goal: the Museum now has a dedicated room for “Kropka ŭvachodu” (Point of Entry), where we present the latest additions to the Museum’s collection.
The Free Belarus Museum’s collection continues to grow and currently includes more than 800 objects. Each one is part of a history worth preserving and passing on to future generations. The exhibition allows us to regularly introduce new artefacts and show how the Museum’s collection is developing.
You also highlighted the importance of lighting in exhibition spaces. We are working on this together with a professional lighting specialist. For each project, we develop lighting solutions tailored to its specific needs, so that the lighting helps reveal the exhibits, reinforce the atmosphere of the exhibition and create a more immersive visitor experience.
Another important priority is providing timely and clear information about life at the Museum. We strive to communicate with you regularly through social media and our website, promptly publishing event announcements, exhibition information and other updates.
We want you to be able to find out easily what is happening at the Museum, plan your visit and stay connected with our community.
The audience survey has helped us better understand what matters to you and identify priorities for further development. We know that not every change can happen immediately, but we continue working to make the Museum an open, contemporary space that listens to its visitors.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to answer our questions and share their thoughts. Your feedback helps us grow and build the Museum together with you.
