Three Seas Art Festival 2025 in Krakow: Belarusian Artists Participate

The International Three Seas Art Festival, part of Poland’s cultural program during its 2025 EU Council presidency, features around 100 artists and curators from 14 countries within the Cultural Cooperation Network (3SICCN) of the Three Seas Initiative. Major festival events—including exhibitions, workshops, meetings, and discussion panels—take place from late April through August 2025.

The festival’s centerpiece is the exhibition “Revealing what is partly sensed / Ujawniając to, co ledwie przeczuwane”, opening May 14 at the Bunkier Sztuki Contemporary Art Gallery in Krakow. This exhibition is the result of a residency involving artists from Austria, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Greece, Hungary, Lithuania, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Ukraine, and Turkey.

Belarus is represented by independent creators, described by the organizers as members of Belarusian civil society. The talented Belarusian duo—artist Ala Savashyevich and curator Volha Mzhelska—will present an installation featuring two works from the series “Tarcze” (“Shields”). The series symbolizes the centuries-long struggle of women defending their rights and the independence of their peoples, often overlooked in history written by men. The installation also references the 2020 Belarusian protests, when women took to the streets with flowers, standing against violence.
