The opening of the festival will begin with the art pradmova exhibition (Friday, November 15), where attendees will be able to discover works by Belarusian artists, including Larysa Maliush and Ala Pihalskaya.
At the festival’s first discussion, Sviatlana Kurs, Andrei Khadanovich, and Andrei Maskvin will talk about the legacy of Vasil Bykau and its significance for contemporary Belarus.
The festival will feature literary and cultural discussions, including the presentation of Tatsiana Shchytsova’s new book “Solidarity of the Shaken”, a panel on the reception of Dostoevsky in Belarus with Siarhei Padsasonny and Bahdan Krautsou, and a lecture by Uladzislau Harbatski on “The Feminization of the Belarusian Language.”
There will also be poetry readings: on Saturday, Andrei Khadanovich, toni lashden, Darya Byalkevich, Hanna Shakel, and others will read their poems at the evening “Free and Rhymed,” showcasing contemporary Belarusian poetry.
Pradmova also means book and publication presentations: among them, the audiobook “The Devil from the Seventh Grade” by Kornel Makuszynski, the translation of Artur Basak’s “Belarusian Spirits: Forest Beings”, and Tatsiana Zamirovskaya’s novel “Eurydice, Check If You Turned Off the Gas.”
The organizers have also prepared a music program: a Friday concert featuring Razbitaye Serca Patsana, harotnica, trava, and Kmit-ansambl; the concert “Between the Shores” by Ales Papkovich on Sunday; and a musical-poetic evening by five storey ensemble to close the festival.
Workshops will include printmaking techniques by Sviatlana Dzemidovich, collage-making with Iryna Arakhouskaya, and an interactive role-playing game “Bring Your Own Bottle.” For children, Elga Papova will host an illustration workshop.
