On 27 January 2026 at 6:00 PM, the Free Belarus Museum will host a presentation of a new Belarusian calendar — a project developed by the Office for National Revival.

The calendar offers a way to view the year as a reflection of Belarusian history, collective experience, and shared meanings. It brings together commemorative dates that have long remained outside the public spotlight, as well as events from the most recent period of Belarusian history, including those after 2020.

During the presentation, Pavel Barkouski, Representative for National Revival, will speak about why democratic forces turned to the idea of creating a new national calendar and why a renewed perspective on both familiar and unfamiliar dates is needed today. Special attention will be given to questions of memory, identity, and ways of interpreting historical events.

The discussion will also feature contributions from Viachaslau Barok, Alaksiej Lastouski, Alena Liashkevich, Ales Plotka, Iryna Sidorśka, Nasta Ilina, and other invited participants.

A distinct place in the calendar is devoted to dates connected with cultural and spiritual traditions, as well as significant international events that have shaped — and continue to shape — Belarus and the wider world. The project invites reflection on complex and often contested issues, including how the events of World War II are named and remembered, what victory and memory mean today, and when and why Independence Day is celebrated.

During the presentation, visitors will have an opportunity to learn more about the calendar, take part in an open discussion, ask questions, and share their perspectives.
