Open Lecture by Pavel Terashkevich “The First Belarusian Revolution” at the Free Belarus Museum

On 11 August, as part of the exhibition “2020. Minsk Speaks”, an open lecture by ethnologist and historian Pavel Terashkevich will take place at the Free Belarus Museum. The lecture will focus on the phenomenon of 2020.

Pavel Terashkevich is a long-standing lecturer and one of the heads of the European Humanities University. He researches history, national identity, and contemporary social processes in Belarus. In recent years, he has also worked with the Office of Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya as an adviser and analyst, combining an academic perspective with direct experience of participation in democratic processes.

During the lecture “The First Belarusian Revolution”, we will discuss the changes in Belarusian society that led to the revolutionary outbreak, the course of mass protests and marches, the self-organisation of Belarusian society, and the place of 2020 in Belarus’s contemporary history.

There will also be an opportunity to ask questions and share personal experiences from 2020.
